CSPI urges fighting Trump’s Menu Labeling Delay

WASHINGTON – The new Administration is attacking calorie counts on chain restaurant menus, says the Center for Science in the Public Interest. It points out:

“By delaying menu labeling, Trump is randomly sowing chaos in the restaurant industry. Many of the biggest chains are ALREADY labeling calories and have invested considerably in the design of new menus and the installation of new menu boards.

Remember—calorie labeling first became law seven long years ago with the passage of the Affordable Care Act. Chains have been preparing for this for years!

Menu labeling is under assault in Congress, too, where extremists in the House of Representatives have a plan to weaken menu labeling requirements and carve out special exemptions for supermarkets, convenience stores, and pizza chains.

Contact the Food and Drug Administration to register your objection to the delay. We face a deadline of July 3 to get your messages in at the agency.”
