New England Food Show opens Mar. 16-18 at BCEC

The Massachusetts Restaurant Association’s New England Food Show opens Sunday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 18 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center with 500-plus booth showcasing new trends, equipment and products. |
Highlights include a keynote speech by new Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, (Mar. 16), a mixology competition with bartenders from Trina’s, The Franklin, and , Ward 8 (Mar. 16), a panel on the role of online bloggers (Mar. 17) and an Iron Chef-style competition among chefs Tim Maslow (Ribelle, Strip T’s), Brendan Pelley, (Zebra’s Bistro & Wine Bar, and Steve “Nookie”Postal, Commonwwalth. The first ever Culinary Cookoff is sponsored by Costa Fruit & Provisions and Paul W. Marks Co.
at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, the MRA’s Annual Awards Dinner takes place Monday evening, March 17, at 6 p.m. At the reception and dinner, the MRA will honor the restaurant industry’s standout leaders. This year’s honorees are: Restaurateur of the Year, Steve DiFillippo of Davio’s; Business Partner of the Year, Ken’s Foods (Marlborough); Business Partner Associate of the Year, Glenn Lawler of Horizon Beverage Co. (Avon); and Chef of the Year Andy Husbands of Tremont 647 (Boston).
NEFS will also feature various educational seminars and culinary demonstrations on Sunday, March 16, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday, March 17, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Tuesday, March 18 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
