What’s new in retail leasing & lending in NYC

NEW YORK – Faith Hope Consolo, chairman of Douglas Elliman Retail Leasing Marketing and Sales Division, will be the keynote speaker on May 17th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at a panel discussion of What’s Happening in the Retail Leasing and Lending Market at 4 Times Square. Panelists include Leland Bunch, head of Securization/Capital Markets, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Darren Gluck, head of B-Piece Acquisitions, Silverpeak Argentic, Jonathan Schultz, founder and managing principal, Onyx Equities, LLC and Frances Zujkowski, counsel, White and Williams LLP. Moderator will be Steven Coury, partner, White and Williams LLP. The panel discussion begins at 6 p.m. with the keynote and runs through 7:30 when there will be a networking reception. Price is $85 for members/$170 for non-members.

A new corridor for dining & gourmet food emerges

NEW YORK – In Manhattan, Eighth Avenue between 20th and 21st Streets is emerging as a new gourmet corridor, says Faith Hope Consolo at Douglas Elliman which was recently awarded the exclusive agency to lease 207 Eighth Avenue in Chelsea. Eighth Avenue is taking off, with Momofuku and Milk Bar Chelsea on the corner of 22nd, across the street from the Foragers Market and Wine stores,” says, Consolo who is chairman of The Retail Team. “This is a great corridor for dining and gourmet specialty stores.”

Rutgers getting new kosher restaurant

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Rutgers University’s Hillel House will get a restaurant, Owner/Chef Dalia Barness’ second restaurant. Barness, who owns The Orchid in Metuchen, will serve Mediterranean/Tunisian flabors and contemporary American fare, according to Elan Kornblum of Great Kosher Restaurants. The new establishment, Bistro 70, opens in February and is currently looking for staff. Email bistro70kosher@gmail.com.

BARDSTOWN, KY – Parker Beam, master distiller at Heaven Hill, died recently after a long fight with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Since his diagnosis several years ago, the company has raised in excess of $100,000,000 to honor him.

Creative Strategy Behind a Successful Culinary/Hospitality Brand,” at the Second Annual Harlem Hospitality and Culinary Conference, Wed., October 23rd, from 10:30 – to 11:30 a.m., at the Studio Museum of Harlem, 144 West 125th St, between Lenox and Seventh Avenues.
