Community Servings’ LifeSavor returns to The Langham Hotel in May

A beloved Boston fundraiser, Community Servings‘ LifeSavor, returns to The Langham Hotel, 250 Franklin St., on May 8 at 5:30 p.m. More than 900 guests are expected to attend the cocktail party before they are transported to restaurants across the city for small dinner parties of 10, hosted by individual donors or corporate sponsors.
Community Servings began as a free food/nutrition program for Boston’s home-bound persons with life-threatening illnesses. Over the years, it has evolved, growing in scope as it delivers weekly to 18 communities all the way to Worcester. Some 25 medically appropriate meals are tailored specifically to the needs of those it serves.
Other facets of its efforts include nutrition education and counseling and foodservice job training with its program, The Teaching Kitchen, which offers the skills to work in a professional kitchen to persons facing barriers to employment. Another initiative, Meals for Many, sells delicious, nutritious meals to other non-profits with proceeds benefitting the meals program for critically ill clients.
At LifeSavor, numerous opportunities exist for restaurants to become involved, from donating a multi-course meal with wine for ten diners at the event to Silent Auction sponsorship to Balloon Pop donations. Help Community Servings fight hunger and illness this year by taking part. Call Tim Leahy at 617-522-7777, ext. 230 and learn more today.
