JBF awards and semi-finalists announced

NEW YORK – The James Beard Foundation announces Restaurant and Chef Award semi-finalists for its 28th annual awards program. Final nominees will be announced March 14 at Parc hosted by Stephen Starr, award-winning chef in Philadelphia at 9:30 a.m. EST. The annual Award Gala is scheduled for May 7 in Chicago.

Dine with the stars at upcoming dinner in Boston

BOSTON – Coming later this month will be a night of “culinary stars,” a dining event at the Langham Hotel here with a cocktail and tasting reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7:30. Guest emcee is Jenny Johnson of NESN’s Dining Playbook.

Chefs involved include Taste All American John Besh, Besh Restaurant Group, New Orleans; Cambridge’s own Ana Sortun, a Beard award winner and chef-restaurateur; and host chef, The Langham’s Mark Sapienza. The reception will also feature tastings from Anna Akunivicz, Myers & Chang, Irene Lei, Mei Mei (Brookline), Peter McKenzie and Susan Regis, Shepard, Michael Scelfo, Alden & Harwich, and Jeremy Sewall, Row 34 (Boston and Portsmouth).

The evening begins with a tasting reception featuring a lineup of Boston’s finest chefs. Then you’ll enjoy a unique four-course seated dinner designed by All-Star John Besh, Local Star Ana Sortun, and Host Chef Mark Sapienza.

Beard Foundation Taste America® heads to Boston

BOSTON – The James Beard Foundation’s Fourth Annual Taste America® national culinary tour heads here Oct. 28 at The Langham, Boston with an exclusive dining event benefitting the Foundation.

It starts with a walk-around tasting reception complete with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from local chefs and follows with a four-course dinner crafted by ALL-STAR Chef John Besh and Local Star Ana Sortun who together, will create the menu.

James Beard event heads to Boston this Fall

NEW YORK – For the second year in a row,the James Beard Foundation will partner with Chase Sapphire Preferred® Visa Signature® to present the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America®: “Local Flavor from Coast To Coast,” a national epicurean tour celebrating America’s culinary diversity. From September 12 through October 25, 2014, the program will stop in 10 cities over five weekends, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C. Each city will enjoy a special evening that starts off with a walk-around tasting reception from a line-up of local chefs, followed by a one-night-only, collaborative four-course dinner crafted by a Taste America All-Star and a local celebrity chef. A weekend-long tour, Boston’s Taste America itinerary will kick off on Friday, October 24 at The Revere Hotel Boston Common with A Night of Culinary Stars, an exclusive dining event benefiting the James Beard Foundation. The evening will begin with a reception filled with bites and libations from local chefs, including Aaron Chambers of Bar Boulud Boston, Michael Leviton of Lumière, Mary Dumont of Harvest, Michael Scelfo of Alden & Harlow, and Tiffani Faison from Sweet Cheeks. Afterwards, guests will be seated for a dinner prepared by Ludo Lefebvre of Trois Mec, Petite Trois and Ludo Bird (Los Angeles), and Jamie Bissonnette of Toro & Coppa (Boston & New York), who have been paired together to create a one-of-a-kind menu.

On Saturday, October 25, a series of free, in-store consumer events will take place at Sur La Table, located at Copley Place, 100 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02116. Activities of the day will include cooking demos by Ludo Lefebvre and Jamie Bissonnette, book signings, tastings from local producers and artisans; and more.
