La Carte Macon-Lugny Chardonnay 2012

This lovely Southern Burgundy wine comes from “La Carte”, a single vineyard producer in Lugny where the 198 acre plateau consists of chalky soil and west-facing slopes with late exposure to sunshine each day.

The vines are an average of 40 years old or more. Grapes are hand harvested or mechanically harvested and pressed in a pneumatic press, with fermentation completed at 100 percent. The wine matures in stainess steel vats with its lees before being bottled.

We loved the almost gold yellow and its citrus scent with touches of fruits and honey. It’s an elegant wine with good minerality, medium body and fruits and almond flavors. The grape is 100 percent Chardonnay and the wine is 13 percent ABV. It’s perfect to celebrating the end of Summer and impending Fall!
