Wine of the Week – Lobster Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Bright and fresh. the Lobster Reef 2014 Sauvignon Blanc is very aromatic and sings to those sipping with hints of fresh fruits such as peaches and apricot. Citrus and herbs have their voice in the most as well. Bright gold in color, the wine was named for colorful Rock Lobsters found on the Marlborough coast. Bright and fresh with intense flavors, it hints at the quirky lobsters for which it’s named.

The 2014 season resulted in a large harvest of exceptional grapes thanks to a dry, warm Spring. The winemaker notes that the combination of mild weather, large bunches dropping earlier than most and late rain gave the resulting wine a clean vintage and classic elegance.

This is a perfect choice for National Lobster Day this week! Celebrate those quirky creatures with this aromatic, fresh, and deeply flavorful example of the best of New Zealand’s Sauvignon Blancs.  Fermented in stainless steel tanks, the wine is 12.5% ABV and has a suggested retail price of $11.99.
