BOSTON – The Massachusetts Restaurant Association will honor five industry leaders this month at its 2018 Annual Awards Dinner at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center during the New England Food Show (NEFS). The five are:

Snapchef, Todd & Daniela Snopkowski, Business Partner of the Year
Richard Vellante, Legal Sea Foods, Executive Chef of the Year
Wahlburgers, Paul Wahlberg & Team, Limited Service Restaurant of the Year
Kathy Sidell, Met Restaurant Group, Restaurateur of the Year.

BOSTON – The official after party, “The Toast,” celebrates the 2016 New England Food Show’s first day and takes place at Empire again this year. Hosted by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA) on February 26 at 5 p.m., it offers appetizers, unlimited sushi, cocktails and music by DJ Liz Ladoux, a top female DJ, plus a live performance by Sam James, an NBC’s “The Voice” finalist.
The celebratory evening event is $25 per person to the general public and each ticket includes admission, complimentary passed appetizers and a voucher for Empire’s “Sushi Unlimited,”which can also be redeemed at a later date during their weekly Monday night promotion. Highlights include a keynote speech by new Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, (Mar. 16), a mixology competition with bartenders from Trina’s, The Franklin, and , Ward 8 (Mar. 16), a panel on the role of online bloggers (Mar. 17) and an Iron Chef-style competition among chefs Tim Maslow (Ribelle, Strip T’s), Brendan Pelley, (Zebra’s Bistro & Wine Bar, and Steve “Nookie”Postal, Commonwwalth. The first ever Culinary Cookoff is sponsored by Costa Fruit & Provisions and Paul W. Marks Co.
at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, the MRA’s Annual Awards Dinner takes place Monday evening, March 17, at 6 p.m. At the reception and dinner, the MRA will honor the restaurant industry’s standout leaders. This year’s honorees are: Restaurateur of the Year, Steve DiFillippo of Davio’s; Business Partner of the Year, Ken’s Foods (Marlborough); Business Partner Associate of the Year, Glenn Lawler of Horizon Beverage Co. (Avon); and Chef of the Year Andy Husbands of Tremont 647 (Boston).
NEFS will also feature various educational seminars and culinary demonstrations on Sunday, March 16, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday, March 17, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Tuesday, March 18 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
