Wine of the Week – Nederburg Winemaster’s Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Nederburg Wineshas been making wine since 1791 and is known as having the highest number of five star ratings in Platter’s South African Wine Guide.
It began with a vintner known as “The Anchorman” who planted vines and other crops and built a beautiful manor house, which remains today as an anchor of hospitality.
Over the years, with many different winemakers, it became a prominent source of well crafted wines. Most recently, Razvan Macici has been broadening the line of wines. He calls “precision and heart” the key to his winemaking. This golden wine with tints of green is redolent of mulberry, gooseberry, and slight hints of green fig. Well balanced, it’s herbaceous, with a lingering finish and perfect as a wine by the glass on its own, with appetizers or chicken, veal or non-creamed seafoods.
