From an island off the coast of Scotland, the Bowmore Islay 12-year-old Scotch offers an entry into a world of deep, rich, peaty Scotches aged in North American Bourbon barrels. The amber/golden single malt is complex with flavors of lemon, honey, peat and smoke.
It’s mellow and mild, conceived of as a tribute to the first Islay malt. Enjoy the long, smooth and complex finish over ice or straight up.
The devil is believed to have visited the Round Church in Bowmore, a village on Islay, once and because it was built without corners, found no place to hide. The congregants of the church saw him and chased him through the village and into a cask Bowmore Distillery’s No. 1 Vaults. It’s said he escaped as warehousemen filled casks, loading them onto a paddlesteamer bound for the mainland.
That tale became the inspiration for Bowmore’s Devil’s Casks, matured exclusively and uniquely in the finest first fill sherry tasks for a decade, brining out intense qualities along with devilish delights!
Bowmore®, the first Islay Single Malt whisky, introduces The Devils Casks Small Batch Release, non chill-filtered and offered at cask strength (56.9% ABV) and matured for 10 years, with a suggested retail price of $89.99. Only 1,302 bottles are allocated for the US late this month or early December, and are expected to sell out quickly. It’s said to have dark fruit flavors, birch tar, fruitcake and maple syrup along with hints of old leather and brandy. This is a beverage that belongs on the bars of restaurants whose guests are discriminating and sophisticated in their tastes, but that really goes without saying!
