Wine of the Week – Château de la Mulonnière

HARRISON, NY – Pasternak Wine Imports launches Chateau de la Mulonniere from Saget La Perriere, known as a highly dynamic and innovative family-owned company now in its third successive century of winemaking.

It’s Managing Director Arnaud Saget recalls that it became part of he Saget La Perrière family when his father, Jean-Louis Saget, literally fell in love with the historic estate in the Anjou region of the Loire Valley upon seeing the obvious quality potential of its terroirs, and subsequently decided to purchase the estate in 2003.

The winery is illustrative of the relaxed charm of the Anjou lifestyle, Pasternak points out. On one side is the Layon river and there are vineyards on the other.

The vineyard uses sustainable agriculture to offer a true portrayal of the estate’s terroirs. Cellar masters Benoit Dufour and Laurent Saget present a product range that includes Château de la Mulonnière Savennières “L’Effet Papillon”, Château de la Mulonnière “Coteaux du Layon Beaulieu” (375ml), M de Mulonnière Chenin Blanc and M de Mulonnière Rosé d’Anjou. Chenin Blanc, Château de la Mulonnière’s emblematic grape variety, fully displays its versatility through wine styles that range from dry to semi-dry and sweet delivering an extensive array of aromatics.

The family has a long history dedicated to vines and wine, Pasternak points out, placing it with a handful of estates enjoying their third century of winemaking. The importer’s President and CEO Stephen Brauer notes that the winery is always “at the forefront of innovation, continuously experimenting and propelling to greater levels of excellence.”
